On a clear day the sunrise at Nagarkot offers one of the most breathtaking views of the Langtang range reaching as far as Daulagiri in the west to Everest in the far east. Nagarkot is a mere 28km from Kathmandu, but it feels like a world away from the heat, dust and smoke of the city. This one day tour is ideal for tourists who have an extra day in Kathmandu at the beginning or end of their itinerary.
Nagarkot was originally an ancient fort, protecting the Kathmandu Valley from other kingdoms. Because of its location, 2000m above sea level, commanding views of the Himalayas, surrounded by rolling hills and deep valleys, it later became popular with the royals as a summer retreat. Its beauty is still a major draw for the many national and international tourists today.
There are plenty of walking trails to enjoy the natural beauty of the environment, and pleasant strolls to explore the local villages. Besides walking, there are other activities such as horse riding and biking. Many opt for simply relaxing and rejuvenating in the quiet and tranquil surroundings.
Annapurna Foothills Treks and Expeditions will pick you up from your hotel at 4:30am and drop you off at 9:30 am. Our vehicles are comfortable, air-conditioned and driven by expert drivers.
