The Phewa Lake adds to the allure of Pokhara. Nestled in the valley, where there is little wind, the still waters reflect the snowcapped mountains as they reflect the changing colours of the sun’s light. You might want to enjoy the reflection while paddle boating, row boating or kayaking on Phewa Lake. On a small island in the midsdle of the lake is the Barahi Temple, where Hindu worshippers sacrifice animals or birds to the goddess Varahi every Saturday. The East shore is lined with restaurants, pubs, hotels and shops.

David's Falls is an incredible waterfall that drops into a very deep gorge. It is named after a Swiss Tourist who lost his life when he fell into this gorge. It is about 2 km southwest of the Pokhara Airport. Close to David's Falls, is Gupteswar Gupha. This cave, also called Gupteswar Mahadev, is mysterious and sacred for Hindus since a phallic symbol of Lord Shiva is perfectly preserved there in the condition it was discovered in.

Bindabasini Temple, built in the 16th century, is the oldest religious shrine in Pokhara. The main shrine of the temple is dedicated to the Goddess Durga. On Saturday this temple is busy as Hindu worshippers flock here to make sacrifices to their Godess.

Seti Gandaki Gorge is a wonder of nature that in places is barely two meters wide and 100 meters deep and at various points the river goes underground and totally vanishes from sight along its route through the city. A good spot for looking down into this deep gorge and its river below is Mahendra Pul, a small bridge in the center of Pokhara.

World Peace Pagoda, a massive Buddhist stupa, is an impressive site in Pokhara situated on top of a hill on the southern shore of Phewa Lake. Besides being an impressive sight in itself, the Buddhist shrine is a great vantage point which offers spectacular views of the Annapurna range and Pokhara City.

Other equally fascinating short treks which can be done from Pokhara are Sarankot, Naudanda, Ghandruk or Ghorepani.
