About Ama Dablam Expedition with Mera & Island Peaks
Ama Dablam Expedition with Mera & Island Peaks – 35-Day Himalayan Adventure
Annapurna Foothills Treks invites experienced adventurers on a thrilling 35-day expedition through the Nepalese Himalayas, combining three iconic summits—Mera Peak (6,476m), Island Peak (6,189m), and Ama Dablam (6,812m)—along with the challenging Amphu Laptsa Pass (5,845m).
The journey begins in Kathmandu, where you can immerse yourself in local culture before flying to Lukla, the starting point for your trek into the remote Hinku Valley. Surrounded by quiet trails, colorful rhododendron forests, and wide alpine landscapes, you’ll gradually gain altitude en route to Mera Peak, with a dedicated acclimatization and training day at Khare (5,045m).
Climbing Mera offers spectacular views of Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, Kanchenjunga, and Cho Oyu, and serves as an excellent high-altitude introduction with minimal technical difficulty but significant elevation gain.
After descending from Mera, the expedition continues over the demanding Amphu Laptsa Pass, a glaciated route that requires ropes and mountaineering skills to access the Khumbu region.
From Chukkung, you’ll ascend Island Peak, a moderately technical climb with panoramic Himalayan views, ideal for those seeking their next challenge beyond trekking peaks.
The final phase of the journey leads to Ama Dablam Base Camp, where you’ll prepare for the ultimate alpine objective. Known as the “Matterhorn of the Himalayas,” Ama Dablam features steep rock faces, exposed ridges, and a dramatic hanging glacier.
Climbers establish three high camps above Base Camp, with the route becoming increasingly technical between Camps 1 and 3. The final ascent, involving mixed terrain of rock, ice, and snow, is demanding yet rewarding, culminating in stunning summit views of Everest and the surrounding range.
First climbed in 1961 via the Southwest Ridge, Ama Dablam remains a classic Himalayan challenge requiring experience, acclimatization, and endurance. Supported by a skilled Sherpa team and fixed safety lines, this expedition offers a rare chance to summit three iconic Himalayan peaks in a single journey—an unforgettable test of strength, resilience, and mountain spirit.
