Annapurna Foothills Treks and Expeditions take pleasure to introduce our clients to exciting far-flung areas that remain unaffected by modernization and tourism. In such remote places there are no tea house/lodges on the trail, so a full-serviced camping trek is the only option.
These treks are a chance to travel back in time. In remote mountain villages people still survive by growing their own food and although they are poor, they live a simple and happy life. They live in harmony with their beautiful natural surroundings. Their distinct culture and traditional way of life has changed little over the years.
Annapurna Foothills Treks and Expeditions supplies all camping equipment and meals. As well as a Sherpa guide there will be an entire team of porters to carry the camping gear and set up tents and a well- trained cook to prepare tasty meals for you. You will only need to carry your small day pack with your water bottle, camera and jacket/sweater.
Typical Day on a Camping Trekking:
Like any trekking day, it’s important to start out early. You will be woken up around 6am with a cup of hot tea brought to your tent. Next you will be given a bowl of hot water for your morning wash. You need to have your bags packed before breakfast because while you eat the support staff will pack up the tents. A typical breakfast will be porridge, toast, eggs, pancakes and tea/coffee. We start trekking right after breakfast so we can enjoy the cool morning when the skies are clear and before the sun gets too hot. The best view of the mountains is in the morning; afternoons can be cloudy or hazy.
We walk for 3 to 4 hours at our own pace, admiring the scenery and watching the village people go about their daily chores. The cooking crew rushes ahead to prepare lunch, so when you arrive at around 11 o’clock it is all ready. After lunch and a rest we walk another 3 hours to arrive in camp by 3 or 4 pm. The camp is already set up by the time we get there, and we can relax with a cup of tea. There is time to go exploring, wash some clothes or read a book before the three course evening meal. We gather around the table in the dining tent around 7pm and enjoy our dinner followed by hot chocolate, tea or coffee. The physical exercise and fresh air make us tired and happy to climb into our sleeping bags by 9pm.
The cook and kitchen staff is trained to maintain the highest standard of hygiene as this is vital for your health on the trek. The cook prepares a combination of western and local cuisine.
