Now with our first clients and crew setting out to climb Lobuche Peak, 6119m, Annapurna FoothillsTreks is happy that the Spring 2015 trekking season has kicked off.

In Canada they say if March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb. Let’s hope this old adage also holds true for Nepal, since our March started out very ‘lion-like’. The first week of March in Nepal always heralds the arrival of expedition teams for Everest, and other mountains, and the first flow of trekkers and tourists; and normally they are welcomed under clear sunny skies.  March 2015 however, started with rain and a blocked International Airport due to a Turkish Airline plane that overshot the runway and lodging its nose firmly into the wet grass and leaving its tail on the runway.  Fortunately, only the plane and not the passengers suffered injury, but it took three full days to dislodge the plane and open the runway to international flights, leaving a backlog of air traffic to clear.

So now that we have sunny blue skies, a forecast for fair-weather and crowds of tourists arriving, we are taking it as an omen, that the rest of the month and the whole trekking season will be like a ‘lamb’.

Look forward to future blogs on the Lobuche Peak Expedition, as well as trips to:
