An experience out of the ordinary
Is it naive to hope for a climbing experience in solitude in the Khumbu region? Yes. But it is still an option, if you are lucky enough to be taken care of by Ngima Sherpa and his team! He organized a personalized combination of the Gokyo valley trek and climbing Kyajo Ri, a hidden gem actually quite close to Namche Bazar. Acclimatization through the trekking was already spectacular, as there are numerous breathtaking view points along the way. Climbing Kyajo Ri, supported by two (!) climbing sherpas and three strong and reliable portes turned out to be absolutely extraordinary. I found myself alone with the team througout the climbing period, from entering the vallery towards the mountain until leaving, a very special and most impressive experience. In addition, we were blessed by perfect weather and great climbing conditions. Last but not least the team made me appreciate the Buddhist culture (Khumbu is of course much more than "just" spectacular wilderness) and wildlife.Taken together, I spent three perfect weeks in a way almost too good to be true. Thank you so much, Ngima, Mingma, and the whole team!!!
An awesome trip with a fabulous company
An awesome trip with a fabulous companyApr 2025 • FriendsThe 3 peaks tour with Annapurna foothills was incredible. It was a challenging expedition requiring some serious climbing but we loved every minute of it. The tour company had it all planned out beautifully to maximise our success and ensure safety. The tour was such great value with all accommodation, meals and snacks included. The guide Mingmar was superb, skilled, knowledgeable and a lot of fun while the two porters (1 porter for each traveler) were strong, helpful and also fun to be around. The organisers, Ngima and Tahsi were friendly and responsive and sorted out everything from beginning to end including some challenging flight arrangements. I highly recommend this company and this tour. We had an awesome time from beginning to end!
Everest Base Camp Trek 2025
Everest Bas CampMar 2025 • FamilyMy two daughters and I had an awesome trip to Nepal to trek to Everest Base Camp. We selected Annapurna Foothills Expedition for our EBC Trek for two reasons 1) Local Company from Nepal, 2) Recommendation from co-worker who had previously used company. All my email communications to Ngima Sherpa in planning the trip were always answered in a timely manner. When we arrived in Nepal, Ngima was there to greet us at airport as per the itinerary. All the details of our EBC Trek from start to finish were taken care of in a professional manor. He even arranged (on short notice) a guide and ride for a city tour upon our return to Kathmandu from EBC.Our trekking guide (Jangmu) for EBC was amazing. My daughter's were super excited to have a female guide as we only have had men in the past (Kilimanjaro/Salkantay trek). Jangmu took care of our every need. She kept us at an appropriate trekking pace to help minimize altitude issues on the trek (we never felt rushed). She shared her first hand knowledge of the mountain region, answering our many questions. Our two porters were friendly and always had a smile on their face.I'm so happy we used Annapurna Foothills Expedition Ltd to fulfil a life long dream/goal of visiting Nepal and hiking in the Himalaya's .
Feedback on Himlung Expedition 2024
I wish you a healthy, successful and happy 2025.After the great trip to Nepal, I had a lot to do in the business, so thedays off from Christmas were urgently needed to recover. My work starts again on 07.01., so I can finally use the time to givesome feedback. As I said in Nepal, it was a very great expedition with you, which was aunique experience for me. Here is a brief summary of my thoughts:# Very quick and competent feedback by email during the planning phase.# absolute reliability in the implementation of all organizationalframework conditions regarding costs, accommodation, transfers and tourguide.# Hotel in Kathmandu and accommodation/meals on the way to Base Camp andback were very good.# Transfers by different drivers and luggage transportation by theporters worked very well.# Very friendly and helpful team at Base Camp, who supported and lookedafter us perfectly. I felt very comfortable because of the small team, the family atmosphere was great. Pasang and the two helpers Dawa, Pasangmade a great job in the kitchen. It's often the little things that make the difference, such as thebucket of warm water for washing your hands or the hot towel for yourface and hands before eating.# the infrastructure in the base camp with heated tent, shower tent(with warm water for washing), personal expedition tent incl. mattressand pillow, toilet tent (zipper defective) and photovoltaic module wasgood and suitable, even if other organizations in the base camp aresometimes more comfortable/newer.# I would especially like to thank Sonam for his guidance and hisvaluable and competent support on the ascent of Himlung. I would alsolike to thank Ngawa, who also did a great job on the mountain and dideverything he could to make sure everything went well.# The 1:1 support on the mountain was very good and important, so thatStefan and Ngawa could turn around and Sonam could continue with me.# For me, the trekking from Base Camp to Koto in 2 days was suitable, but I think we stressed Stefan too much. We should probably have planned3 days, taking into account Stefan's state of health. Bettertransparency about real walking times would have been helpful for abetter decision.# Your additional support and hints regarding the equipment, theKathmandu sightseeing program and the necessary flight rebookings weregreat.# The invitation to the final dinner at Tensing and Ngima's home wasvery nice.# The price-performance ratio is very good, communication in English waseasy.I really enjoyed the expedition to Himlung with Annapurna Foothills. Iam very happy to recommend you, thank you and the whole team very muchfor the unique experience. Now I'm looking forward to the ski touring season, there's already snowin the mountains.Ngima, you are very welcome to use my feedback or excerpts from it foradvertising purposes on the Internet. All the best and stay healthyAndreas
We were very well taken care of!
We trekked the Langtang, Gosainkunda & Helambu over 15 days. Ngima answered all our questions promptly leading up to our trip. Once in Nepal everything was very well organized from transportation to gear rental and much more. Jangmu was a prefect guide; we were very impressed with her deep knowledge of the Nepali culture which she shared generously. We were proud to have a female guide, other trekkers wanted to steal Jangmu as she always got us the best rooms in the best teahouses. Tshring not only carried our bag, he helped us often and made us laugh and the two together were a lot of fun.The trail was amazing and is not as crowed as some others. We passed through a great variety of regions with different characteristics. After the trek we spent a few days exploring Kathmandu. Ngima and Tenzin invited us into their home for a delicious Diwali dinner. Ngima, Tenzin, Jangmu and Tshring, thanks again for this amazing experience. We highly recommend Annapurna Foothills for anyone visiting Nepal.
Baruste expedition review 2024
Summiting Mt. Baruntse at an altitude of 7 129 meters (24 000 ft.) was no small feat and a huge accomplishment I will always be grateful for! After so many ups and downs, suffering from acute mountain sickness after going up to a higher camp too quickly and having to rush down to basecamp to recover, pulling an all-nighter to summit, realizing how high I was only as the sun rose and feeling terrified from the last stretch following the narrow mountain crest, victory had a very sweet taste indeed. Here's some pictures of our climb from basecamp to the top of this giant, passing through a paradise of blue ice and snow, crevasses and steep walls of rocks inviting us to climb higher and higher ❄️ Once again a huge thank you to my amazing team without whom none of this would have been possible, for all the laughs we shared in the kitchen tent playing cards or during our most memorable night at camp 2 where we forgot to bring plates and cutlery and had to eat handfuls of spaghetti out of plastic bags 🍝Last but none the least, thank you to @annapurnafoothillstreks for being the most caring and helpful agency I could have dreamed of, I'd climb with you again in a heartbeat.
